Come and join us at Scotland’s first design museum, and the first Victoria and Albert museum outside London, for a relaxed couple of hours of scrawling and scribbling. Flex those drawing and writing muscles in the company of your SCBWI friends.
There should most certainly be something to inspire the illustrator and/or writer in us all as we walk through the Scottish Design Galleries and explore the stunning architecture of the building in its glorious riverside surroundings.
What’s that? You don’t draw? No problem! See that Star Wars costume over there? Have a go! Who said they don’t write? The George Logan bookcase over there that was designed to exhibit at the 1901 Glasgow exhibition could no doubt share a story or two! Bring yourself, your note book or sketchpads, pencils, pens or whatever you normally use and meet us there.
Afterwards why not stay for lunch? The V&A has a cafe on the ground floor, a restaurant above, and a picnic room for anyone who wants to bring their own food and drink, so we’ll be spoilt for choice.
A creative and convivial couple of hours…what could be better for a Winter Saturday?
Please meet at the entrance for an 11am start.
The V&A is directly opposite the train station and parking is available at a number of car parks near by, including the Overgate Shopping Centre, which is less than a 10 minute walk away.
Please note that entrance to the museum and the Scottish Design Galleries is free, but should you wish to view the Ocean Liners: Speed and Style Exhibition (which finishes the next day on the 24th) there is a charge of between £6 and £12 for this.
