SCBWI SE Scotland is thrilled to be able to offer our members the opportunity to receive 1-2-1 feedback from an agent or editor, plus a short industry panel discussion about the submission process & the current state of children’s publishing.
Each 1-2-1 feedback session costs £30 and is available to SCBWI members only. For your £30 you will receive:
a 15-minute feedback chat with one of our invited experts on either a short synopsis plus the first ten pages of your MG or YA project; a whole PB manuscript; or an author-illustrated PB.
plus a 30 minute panel discussion;
plus tea, coffee and biscuits!
We are very happy to have three fabulous agents and a brilliant editor as our industry experts: Lindsey Fraser (Fraser Ross Associates); Thérèse Coen (Hardman & Swainson Literary Agency); Lina Langlee (Kate Nash Literary Agency); and Sally Polson (senior commissioning editor, Floris Books).
When making your booking, you will have the opportunity to choose the agent or editor you would like to receive feedback from. There are a maximum of 8 slots available for each, if your first choice is not available on the booking form, this means all 8 slots for that person have been taken and you will need to make your selection from those still available.
Please note:
- All four agents/editor will offer feedback on MG and YA.
- Thérèse Coen and Lina Langlee will not offer feedback on PB submissions, therefore, if you are submitting a PB manuscript for feedback, make sure you select either Sally Polson or Lindsay Fraser.
- Sally Polson has agreed to look at a limited number of author-illustrated Picture Books. If you have a PB manuscript that you have also illustrated, please book your slot with her.
Our fantastic line-up of experts:
Lindsey Fraser: Together with Kathryn Ross, Lindsey had been running the readership development agency Scottish Book Trust for 10 years when they decided to put their combined experience into Fraser Ross Associates Literary Agency and Consultancy.
In addition to running the Literary Agency, Kathryn and Lindsey manage The Pushkin Prizes, a unique creative writing competition open to all Scottish pupils in their first and second year at secondary school and the Young Walter Scott Prize which is open to 11 to 19 year-olds throughout the UK with an interest in writing historical fiction.
Thérèse Coen: Thérèse’s first job in publishing was at Bloomsbury Publishing, where she started as an intern and left as Rights Executive. She later worked at Ed Victor ltd., handling huge celebrity titles alongside Booker-prize winning authors. Since 2016, Thérèse has been part of the Hardman & Swainson team, building her own list of authors as well as selling translation rights.
Lina Langlee: After graduating with a First from the University of Glasgow, Lina went on to a Masters in Publishing Studies for which she earned a Distinction and was awarded two prizes: one for her dissertation on transmedia, and one for her publishing project. Before joining the Kate Nash Literary Agency, Lina worked within Rights at Canongate Books, and Publicity at Black & White Publishing.
Sally Polson: Sally is Editorial Director at Floris Books, where she works on children’s books, from picture books to YA, and on adult non-fiction. She started her career editing children’s fiction at HarperCollins, and has been working with children’s authors for over sixteen years. She loves every aspect of her job, from finding exciting new talent to helping authors finesse their words.
