Industry Insiders Skylark Literary Talk
SCBWI Industry Insiders are thrilled to welcome Skylark Literary to The Lukin, 4 Conway Mews, London W1T 6BB for an exciting event on Tuesday 7th March 2017 at 7.30 pm.
Literary Agents Amber Caravéo and Joanna Moult will be talking all about the agenting process, why you should have an agent, and what they do. They’ll also be sharing some do’s and don’ts of submitting to agents. It's a great opportunity to find out more about the Children’s and YA publishing industry, and what people are looking for right now. There will be a Q&A, so do come prepared with any questions you may have.
Doors open from 7pm onwards. Food and drink can be purchased at the bar.
Skylark Literary is a boutique literary agency specialising in seeking and supporting the very best writers of Children’s and YA fiction. It is founded by Amber Caravéo and Joanna Moult who are both former publishers and can therefore offer insights from both sides of the agent/publisher fence. Skylark is currently open to submissions and submission guidelines and further info can be found on the website at www.skylark-literary.com
Prior to founding Skylark, Amber Caravéo was the Editorial Director for Orion Children’s Books where she was privileged to work with a host of prize-winning and bestselling authors such as Caroline Lawrence, Liz Kessler, Juno Dawson and Holly Black. She has also worked as Senior Commissioning Editor for Random House Children’s Books and for Working Partners where she edited and developed the million-copy selling series phenomenon, Rainbow Magic.
Joanna Moult began her publishing career at Hodder Children's Books editing authors including Cressida Cowell and Kes Gray as well as creating fiction for brands such as Felicity Wishes. Jo then moved to become Senior Commissioning Editor at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books editing Sophie McKenzie’s debut novel GIRL, MISSING and the YUCK series by the Beastly Boys. She spent a couple of years as Editorial Director for Children’s Fiction at literary agents Mulcahy Conway Associates where she worked to seek out new talent and edit submissions to publishers.
