London Author Masterclass:  Picture books for the digital age with Eric Huang

21 March 2015

Touchscreen devices offer so many possibilities for storytellers, especially in the form of digital stories for kids. Pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, and book+ formats have a new life as our phones and tablets allow stories to come to life with animation, sound, and even gaming mechanics.  But how do we create stories for this medium? How much interactivity is necessary – if at all? And how can readers find the digital stories we make? Eric Huang, development director at digital publishing house, Made in Me, leads a workshop to explore this ever-changing – and growing niche of children's publishing.

Eric Huang is Development Director at Made in Me, an award winning digital publisher in London specialising in children's entertainment. Starting out at Disney Publishing in LA – where he worked for six years – Eric moved to Melbourne as Managing Editor at Penguin Australia. In 2007 Eric took up a role at Penguin UK, where he worked for six years as one of the children’s publishers and looked after Penguin's IP and co-production businesses. Eric joined Made in Me in 2013 from Mind Candy.  He looks after IP development and partnerships around creating and launching digital brands.

Please note:  This event is part of a series of four Author Masterclasses.  If you would like to book at the discounted rate of £108 for all four (SCBWI Members only) please exit this event and go into the ‘London Author Masterclass: Whole Series’ option to make your booking.
