Date(s) - 04/11/2017
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

McDonald Road Library
2-4 McDonald Road - Edinburgh, EH7 4LU

Terrified at the thought of pitching your novel to literary gatekeepers? Do you clam up when asked about your current work-in-progress? Are you heading to the conference and want to prepare for the network opportunities that may arise there?

Then come along to our friendly Pitch-In where we will roll up our SCBWI sleeves and practice our pitching – on each other! If you can, bring along a printed copy of your synopsis to refer to.

With handy hints and tips provided by Lindsey Fraser, agent at Fraser Ross Associates and some encouraging words of wisdom from YA author Keith Gray, you'll leave feeling rejuvinated and enthusiastic about your work.

And to top it all off, joining us for our first ever SCBWI Q & A pitching panel, our very own Conference Hook winners and South East Scotland members Justin Davies and Sheila Averbuch. They will be answering any questions you may have on pitching and also discussing their experience at the Hook competition, held every year at the SCBWI conference.

No terrifying agents or publishers to be scared of, just a friendly sea of SCBWI faces to encourage and support you.

This is an informal event for us all to share our pitching do's and don'ts, share our work if we're comfortable doing that and supporting each other as we gain important pitching skills.

This is the first time we will have used McDonald Road Library, if anyone is heading there from town and doesn't know where to go, there will be a SCBWI meet up at Costa coffee attached to Princes Mall Shopping Centre next to The Balmoral Hotel – 9.30am sharp, it's just a 15/20 minute stroll down Leith Walk. A further e-mail to attendees will be sent out nearer the time.

This is a free event but we will ask you for £2/£3 donation towards refreshements and room hire. Please complete the booking form below so we know to expect you.

For those who can make it after the event, we will be heading to Waterstones Princes Street for SCBWI member Barbara Henderson's launch of her second novel 'Punch' at 2pm.
