Date/Time
Date(s) - 19/06/2022

Location
Callendar House,
Callendar Road - Falkirk, FK1

Based in Fife, Jill Calder has been working as an illustrator since 1993 and is a member of SCBWI. She is also a calligrapher and a digital artist with a love of drawing, and a passion for bright colour.

This exhibition gives you a glimpse into Jill’s world from her beginnings at art college in Cumbria in the late 1980’s to her current collaboration with English Heritage.

On display you will see a wide selection of Jill’s artwork from draft sketches through to published illustrations. Jill’s love of ink shines through in this exhibition and examples of her designs include editorial commissions, gallery work and book art.

Introduced to the idea of illustrating picture books back in 2011, Jill has since immersed herself in the children’s book world. This has created many opportunities for Jill including working with children in schools and libraries, both locally and internationally.

A Blink of Ink runs from 30th April to 11th September at Callendar House, Falkirk.

We are planning a social visit for SCBWI members to see Jill’s exhibition on Sunday 19th June. Spaces are limited but all are welcome!

We aim to meet at Callendar House at 11am and will browse the exhibition then head for tea and cafe afterwards.

Please contact us at scotland@britishscbwi.org if you would like to join us.
