YOU’RE INVITED to the
02 November 2019
Winchester Discovery Centre
Jewry Street, SO23 8SB
7.30 to 11 pm
The conference party will happen in the most appropriate place possible for a conglomeration of kidlit types – in Winchester’s magnificent library – the Discovery Centre.
What is it all about?
The party is your opportunity to network and meet fellow SCBWI members as well the conference faculty and guests from the children’s book world – editors, agents and art directors. What a treat!
There will be a light finger buffet, a complimentary first drink, a cash bar and entertainment in the form of live music from Blow Saxophone Quartet. It will also be a time to celebrate as we present the Crystal Kite award and applaud the latest crop of SCBWI books during the Mass Book Launch. And of course, there will be the famous cake, which this year will be another show-stopping creation from the amazing Amanda at Reilly Cakes.
What to wear?
Dressing up for the SCBWI conference party is now very much ‘a thing’. This year our conference theme is Telling Tales. Modern, mythical or magical there are so many fantastic characters at your disposal to draw inspiration from. We can’t wait to see the costumes and know from experience that you’ll bring your creative best! Eg, your favourite character from a fairy tale, the magical character you always wanted to be, the god/goddess you’d most like to have dinner with etc.
If dressing up is not for you, don’t worry – just put your glad rags on and we’ll have something to help you get into the swing of it while maintaining your dignity.
The famous, fabulous Work-of-Art that is the Cake
All the book covers from the Mass Book Launch adorning a delicious and delightful cake.
The cake will be cut and eaten on the last day of the conference.
